Abstract

Commencement speaker William H. Rehnquist, Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, in an approximately 12-minute address, urges the graduates to resist the tempations of "careerism," to avoid defining themselves by their jobs, and to recognize the beauty in life, quoting the memorable line from the poet Keats who said: "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." Distinguished Alumni Awards to 1965 graduate Colonel Herman Keizer and 1955 graduate Dr. Jacquelyn Nickerson.
