Abstract

Are you wondering what the implications are of the education policy agenda of the new presidential administration? Since taking office, President Trump has issued several executive orders that influence PK-12 and higher education. These orders, along with other legislative efforts at the state and federal level, have an impact on teaching and learning and how schooling is experienced by students, families, and communities.

This event provides an overview of these actions and their impact on education in American society. Furthermore, we will explore how a democratic conception of education may impact our response to these policies and discuss what it means for Christians to support democracy and education in this current moment.
