Abstract
Peter E. Enns, Professor of Old Testament and Biblical Hermeneutics at Westminster Theological Seminary in Glenside, PA will lecture on "Developing An Incarnational Model For Scripture." Christianity is an historical faith, and its Scriptures beg to be understood in their historical contexts. The historical study of the Bible, however, can pose challenges for evangelicals since such study accents Scripture's " humanity." An incarnational approach to Scripture (one that affirms the necessity of Scripture's divine and human dimensions, as one affirms the human and divine dimensions of Christ) is a very helpful theological model for addressing the challenges posed by "Scripture in context." It is also a model that has ample precedent in Reformed thought, even if it has not been applied as rigorously as it could have been. This lecture will be held on Monday, April 23 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel Undercroft.
