Abstract
This is the story of one Dutch immigrant's most unlikely life and legacy as told by his grandson, Hank Meijer, former journalist and now CEO and co-chairman of Meijer, Inc. Hendrik Meijer arrived in Hoboken with radical ideas, but neither he nor anyone else imagined that the little grocery store he opened in middle age would beget an enterprise that radically altered the way people shop.
