Seminars in Christian Scholarship

Abstract

Christianity has a history in Africa that is two thousand years long. Afro-America has played a crucial part in a substantial period of that history. There was a time when the majority of African Christians lived in the Americas, and when these saw themselves as the key to the regeneration of the African Continent. The lecture traces the involvement of Christians of the African diaspora in the evangelization of the Americ as, the story of how they produced the first Protestant Church in the tropical Africa, their place as the forefront of nineteenth century missions in much of Africa, and their impact on African educational and economic development.
