Abstract
Sister Helen is best known for her book Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States, which has been the basis for a movie, a stage play, and an opera. She is also the author of The Death of Innocents: An Eyewitness Account of Wrongful Executions, in which she tells the story of two men whom she accompanied to execution and whom she believes to have been innocent. In addition to her wo rk with death row inmates, Sister Helen is also the founder of "Survive," a victim's advocacy group in New Orleans that gives support to the families of murder victims.
