We started out this afternoon and got over there all O.K. but it was ashamed that we could not work, with our shovels + picks + axes, on the account of the 4th Field Artillery firing, "Don't you think"! And it is also hard to get accustomed to the candles again, since we have had our electric lights. I am using a candle now "C" [drop of candle wax]
We had an awful time last night getting a place to sleep, some of the bedding didn't get here until this A.M. and we had to double up so all of us could have a place to sleep. I got all that belonged to me, excepting my barracks bag, I had my mess-kit in there and had to whait until some one else got through eating so I could eat. I wasn't the only one. We stood muster-roll this morning and I suppose we will get paid sometime between now and Xmas.
This seems funny on the 1st of Dec and the sun shining so bright and as warm as a day in June. We had some awful bad days when you were down here.
It seemed funny when you were here you would be in Fred's tent and right after we come in off of drill, I would make a B-line for his tent to talk to you, and Monday A.M. I caught myself making a B-line for there and never thought until I got inside, but I never said a word. The joke was on me. Ha! Ha!
I could say a whole lot more but it might cost 6¢ to send it and I will write more next time -: Good bye
