The collection is focused on communities with Dutch immigrants. A majority of the postcards feature imagery from Michigan, especially Grand Rapids and Grand Haven. A section highlights churches, including those from small towns across the United States. Other states represented include New Jersey, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, and Iowa—with Iowa being the most represented after Michigan.
Many cards are blank, while others are personal messages or advertisements. The postcards were originally organized in 16 binders.
Acquired in 2019, the Conrad and Dee Bult Postcard Collection includes 2,320 physical postcards gathered by the Bults. Over 1,850 items were digitized as part of a Digital Humanities (IDIS201) course at Calvin University in Fall 2019.
