Abstract

While modern empirical science arose within the bosom of the Christian faith, the relationship between Christianity and science has been marked by as much conflict as concor d. At times, what is proposed as serious science seems to be flatly inconsistent with the Christian faith. This lecture looks into this type of conflict and Dr. Plantinga argues that typically these conflicts ought not to occasion fear and trepidation on the part of Christians. Dr. Plantinga is a founding member of the Society of Christian Philosophers. He taught philosophy at Calvin College for 19 years. In 1982, he was appointed to the John O'Brien Professor of Philosophy and Director for Philosophy of Religion at the University of Notre Dame.
