Description
Isoquinoline alkaloids encompasses a large and important group of naturally occurring substances that exhibit a diverse array of biological activity, including treating Yaws and worm infections,1 as well as showing activity as both topoisomerase inhibitors2 and as antibiotics against various quinoline-resistant gram-positive bacteria (Figure 1). 3 In this project, isoquinoline alkaloids, containing stereogenic centers on the backbone, are being pursued.
