Examining the Role of Non-Canonical Wnt Receptors in Pancreatic Cancer Cell Motility
Comments
Pancreatic cancer is a highly deadly disease with a 5- year survival rate of merely 10% in the United States. Most patients are diagnosed during the late stages of tumor progression, after metastasis has occurred. Frizzled6 (Fzd6) is a non-canonical Wnt receptor, and Ryk is a co-receptor of Fzd6. In normal cells, they are known to be involved in planar cell polarity (PCP). In aggressive pancreatic cancer, they are both upregulated and associated with poorer patient outcomes. Importantly, Fzd6 is the gene most correlated to Ryk in patient tumors.
