Description
Some posttranslationally-modified protein tyrosines, such as the crosslink between cysteine and tyrosine (Cys-Tyr) provide sites for reversible oxidation These crosslinks are formed by an adjacent, redox active metal center when reacted with O2 . While galactose oxidation was among the first documented cys-ty crosslinks, cross linked tyrosine PTM’s have three major functions.
