Women and the Gender of God
Session Description
At the intersection of theology and anthropology, this session will investigate the impact of the language Christians use for God. The first half will give special attention to the mode of the Incarnation, namely that God chose to partner with a young woman, Mary, to begin the process that would redeem the world. The second half will turn to the Pauline letters to interrogate Paul’s awareness of the mode of the Incarnation and its impact on ecclesial practices. Attendees will hear a summary of the presenter’s 2022 book Women and the Gender of God and receive a preview of its sequel, currently being written.
