- GBS is a common bacteria in the vaginal flora but can lead to complications such as preterm birth during pregnancy.
- Co-treatment (GBS+DCVC) in placental membranes lead to inhibition of pathogen stimulated cytokine secretion
- We hypothesized that along with cytokine secretion, GBS+DCVC co-exposure would have impacts on MMP-9 (a protein involved in gestational membrane degradation) 4 and prostaglandin E2 (a hormone involved in cervical ripening and labor induction) 5, two important proteins in pregnancy and labor
